Antimicrobial mouthwashes
Antimicrobial mouthwashes
- Antimicrobial mouthwashes can reduce secondary infection and are particularly useful when pain limits other oral hygiene measures.
- A tetracycline mouthwash (e.g. doxycycline) is effective in some patients with recurrent aphthous stomatitis.
- Licensed alcohol-free versions of mouthwashes, where available, are preferred.
